Bicycling

Several years ago, I lived in Eugene, OR. My primary method of transportation was a bicycle. Eugene has a river running through it with about six bridges for vehicles. It has another dozen for walking and biking. It also has a number of streets set aside for bicycles. Combined with 1500 parking spaces at the University for 24,000 faculty, staff, and students, bicycling was usually the fastest method of getting around.

After my bike was stolen, I quit riding and moved around. I'm here in Denver now and am trying to get back into bicycle commuting and recreational riding.  However, I am not finding a comprehensive source of information for bike commuters. Many maps and publications help recreational riders, but I've only found a few pieces on riding around town.

My goal is to create a location for people to share information about bike commuting. A message board system would be good except I don't yet know how to set one up. But a message board tends to get cluttered with threads. I want more of a reference area where people (and I) can get specific information on routes and facilities in various parts of town.

If anyone knows of a place where this information has already been assembled let me know.  I will quit doing it myself and go ride my bike instead.  E-mail me at tom@tomfranken.com.

For now, I will add information as I come across it.  Hopefully, much of it will come from my experience riding my bike.  I would also like help from bike commuters in the form of information on routes, facilities, and other information of interest to bike commuters.  E-mail me with info at tom@tomfranken.com.
